Spastik is an up-and-coming Liquid DnB producer haling from Portland, OR. Having accumulated a hefty catalog of original tracks, but left un-signed, Low Pass Records found him, and signed his work immediately.

Spastik had a single track ‘Night Run’ released on the LPR001 Compilation LP (Which held its’ place in the Beatport Top50 Albums for over a month) which garnered much due attention; and now will be seeing his very own EP exclusively on Beatport March 15th, and all other retailers on March 29th.

The Photograph EP features 5 Liquid DnB tracks, 4 of which that can be purchased individually, and a 5th one, ‘Love Inside’, that is exclusively Album Only. (or download it for free while you still can)

Low Pass Records is a label based on the principles of everything bass (Dubstep, DnB, Drumstep, Moombahton, Glitch Hop, etc) trying to represent the underdogs in their respective genre. Of the past three EP’s, two have broken the Top50 Dubstep Releases on Beatport, and our ongoing Remix Contest was picked as an Editor’s Choice on RemixComps.com and has ~10,000 plays.

Forthcoming to Low Pass Records; Just one of five Liquid D’nB tracks on the Photograph EP (LPR004) by Spastik. Dropping this March 15th! Enjoy…

It was January 6th, 1989 when young Dutchman Nicky Romero saw his first light of day. Born and raised in a small city called Amerongen, Nicky developed an interest for music at a very young age. At the age of 6 he hit his first snare drum after joining a marching band and this is where it all kicked off for young Nicky. After saving up for a little while, Nicky obtained his first drum kit and started banging away at it like there was no tomorrow. For the next three years there was only one beat to be heard in the Romero household, Nicky’s beat, practising the drums day and night.

Being bored with the drum kit, made way for a brand new set of turntables. Studying and practising his mixing skills were mainly what Nicky’s life consisted of at the time. Already flirting with the idea of making his own music and rocking the crowds some day. When Nicky finished school, the path was clear and the objective was set, producing music became not only a career, but a way of life!

The very first musical offerings Privilege and QWERTY by Romero were snatched up by a small boutique label called ‘Once Records’ the ‘Romero sound’ was born. Next to having a few more releases on small independent imprints, there was a remix for Tony Cha Cha and Sidney Samson: ‘Get On The Floor’ that whirled up a storm of publicity. All the aforementioned achievements, left one more aspect of the production game in need of conquering; the bootleg. Producing his own interpretation of David Guetta’s ‘When Love Takes Over’ resulted in instantly becoming the so called talk of the town with thousands of hits on Youtube and posts on various influential music blogs, Nicky made his entrance into the global scene.

Releasing ‘My Friend’ really paved the way for Nicky. The track released on Spinnin’ Records shot to a 4th place in the overall Beatport top 100 download chart and straight to the top spot on Dutch portal Dance–Tunes. This success resulting in the worlds top artists supporting almost everything Nicky releases nowadays. People the likes of Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand, David Guetta and Sander Van Doorn all often feature tracks by Nicky in their sets. All these accolades make for Nicky being one of the hottest, most sought after producers and remixers on the planet today. With remixes for Green Velvet, Tiesto, Flo-Rida and David Guetta the outlook for 2011 is a promising one.

Nicky’s tour schedule for 2011 is also filling up nicely. Getting invited to play Ultrafest during the WMC and a two-week tour in Australia already pencilled in, leaves just enough time to tour the US and travel through Europe rocking the crowds where ever he plays. All this next to maintaining one of the busiestproduction schedules know to man, Nicky Romero has truly entered the top realm within the global dance scene.

ENJOY…

This mix was recorded by one of our favorite DJs… Cedric Gervais (Miami, Florida) live at Marquee in Las Vegas, Nevada for Kim Kardashian’s 31st birthday. Marquee is located inside the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

It is an uncommon occurrence in the Electronic Dance Music scene to find an artist sensationally talented as both a DJ and a producer. Cedric Gervais is of the rare breed whose talents behind the decks translate over into the production room. For years he has captivated clubbers and partygoers as he reigned supreme over the Miami dance scene. Although originally born in Marseilles, Cedric Gervais has chosen Miami as his adopted home, and the city has been more than happy to embrace him. He has held residencies at Crobar (now Cameo) and the world famous Nikki Beach, before taking over the Space Terrace. Cedric’s presence at the Space Terrace was felt immediately as people in the thousands began lining up to witness him devastate the after-hours scene. Despite being in such heavy demand, Cedric still found time to take his talents into the studio. His first single with Ultra Records, “Burning” was a great success on both the charts and the underground circuit. Soon after, he unleashed his debut album “The Experiment”, which featured the massive hit, “Spirit in My Life”. The album took him to a different level as he spent the next couple of years touring the world, entertaining and thrilling his many fans. His production credits include working with the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Deep Dish, Steve Lawler, and Rachel Star, just to name a few. Whilst maintaining a hectic tour schedule, Cedric has managed to both continue his residency at Space and spend plenty of time in the production room. His latest single, “Mauri’s Dream”, was Pete Tong’s Essential Tune of the Week three weeks in a row, and has received great critical acclaim from both DJs and producers. Many consider it to be one of the best, if not the best song revealed at the 2009 Winter Music Conference. It will be hard for any producer to top “Mauri’s Dream”, but tantalizingly enough, Cedric has expressed that “Mauri’s Dream” is just the beginning of what should be a string of smash hit releases. Currently, Cedric is working on his highly anticipated second album, “Miamication”; which is scheduled for release later this summer. He is working closely with Sharam (of Deep Dish fame) and the duo already had a monster record together, entitled, “U Don’t Even Know Us”, under the moniker, Sharvais. Cedric has also just relaunched his two record labels, Sleaze Records and SleazeTech. Having undergone major makeovers, the two labels are ready to take the Electronic Dance Music world by storm. Sleaze Records will specialize in house music and SleazeTech will focus on Techno and Minimal. Both labels are set to begin a heavy release schedule with the first set of releases coming in the end of April. With a host of new talent signed to the two labels, it is only a matter of time before Cedric propels them both to the top. Very few have managed to enjoy the kind of success Cedric Gervais has worked hard to achieve in such a short span of time. The scary, yet enthralling aspect about Cedric’s career is that it has yet to reach it peak. Although it would be cliché to say the future is bright for this young star, it is nevertheless true. No one can be sure what is in store for Cedric, but what can be certain is his impact will be one that will be felt for generations to come.
